Clara was born and raised in Dangriga Town but her love for the water was nurtured while spending weekends in the coastal village of Hopkins, with her family. Spending all those hours outdoors she gravitated towards science and research earning her Bachelor’s in Marine Biology from the University of the West Indies in Jamaica.
Returning home from college Clara dived right in to the field, literally, by improving her dive certification to Divemaster and pursuing job opportunities that aligned with her interests of marine and environmental conservation.
Over the past two years she has worked with a number of NGO’s in Belize focused on data collection, teaching volunteers how to conduct surveys on the Belize Barrier reef, working in rural communities and participating in outreach.
Clara is working towards eventually earning her Master’s degree but first hoping to find her niche in the world of marine conservation with Maralliance as the new research officer.
