MarAlliance is a small international NGO dedicated to the conservation of marine wildlife and ecosystems. Our mission is to advance marine science, engage communities, and advocate for the protection of marine species and habitats in several tropical countries. As we expand our donor engagement efforts, we seek a dynamic and skilled Individual Gifts Associate to support the Executive Director in stewarding individual donors, conducting donor research, and coordinating fundraising activities
Purpose of the Role
The Individual Gifts Associate will play a key role in deepening relationships with individual donors, ensuring effective stewardship, and contributing to the overall fundraising strategy. This position will focus on individual donor cultivation, engagement, and retention, while leveraging Salesforce for donor tracking and communications.
Key Responsibilities
A. Individual Donor Stewardship and Engagement
- Support the Executive Director in managing relationships with individual donors, ensuring personalized engagement and retention
- Develop and implement donor stewardship strategies, including impact reports, personalized communications, and donor appreciation efforts.
- Facilitate donor meetings, site visits, and events to strengthen donor relationships.
- Draft and distribute compelling donor communications, including thank-you notes, newsletters, and campaign updates.
B. Donor Research and Prospecting
- Conduct research to identify new individual donor prospects aligned with MarAlliance’s mission.
- Maintain an updated database of donor profiles, interests, and giving history within Salesforce.
- Analyze donor giving patterns and trends to inform engagement strategies.
- Support the development of tailored outreach plans for donor acquisition and retention.
C. Team Coordination and Fundraising Strategy
- Collaborate with the Executive Director and team members to align individual giving efforts with organizational priorities.
- Track donor interactions and fundraising progress in Salesforce to ensure accurate and up-to-date records.
- Assist in coordinating fundraising campaigns and events targeted at individual donors.
- Provide logistical and administrative support for donor-related initiatives and engagements.
D. Administrative and Compliance Support
- Ensure timely and accurate data entry and reporting in Salesforce.
- Monitor donor commitments, follow-up actions, and giving cycles.
- Assist in budget tracking and forecasting related to individual gifts.
- Ensure compliance with donor privacy and data protection regulations.
Required Qualifications and Skills
A. Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Communications, Marketing, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in individual giving, donor relations, or fundraising.
- Proven track record of donor cultivation and stewardship with demonstrated success securing large gifts.
B. Technical Skills
- Advanced proficiency in Salesforce for donor management, tracking, and reporting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage and inspire donors.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, email marketing tools and familiarity with online fundraising platforms.
C. Personal Attributes
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with donors and stakeholders.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with strong project management skills.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently.
- Passion for marine conservation and environmental advocacy.
Terms and Conditions
- This is a remote contractor post with flexibility in working hours but requires availability for donor engagement and team coordination.
- Occasional travel may be required for donor meetings, fundraising events, or team gatherings.
- Compensation will be based on experience and qualifications and a salary range between $24,000-28,000, with potential for translation into a full-time post.
