Educational Scholarship Funds Available for Future Marine Conservationists
MarAlliance has launched another year of Z Scholarships, a scholarship fund in memoriam of two of our own, Zeddy Seymour and Ze Luis Monteiro.
As marine scientists and sea-faring colleagues, Zeddy and Ze did so much to share their love and understanding of the ocean. Sadly, their lives were cut too short, but their legacy lives on through this educational funding opportunity.
Leaving an indelible print on our mission, we have dedicated this scholarship fund to their lives and to the education of others. This impactful resource was established to enable students with limited means to finish high school, pursue higher education and support the next generation of marine conservationists.

Eligibility Details:
To be eligible to become a Z Scholar, you must be a current high school student and a national, living full time in the countries of Belize, Honduras, Mexico or Panama. Children of bonafide fishers are highly encouraged to apply.

MarAlliance 2026 Z Scholarship Opportunities:
Five (5) educational scholarships up to $1,000 each that cover school associated costs (such as books, transportation, etc.) in a relevant undergraduate degree.
Support the Next Generation
And the support to Z Scholars goes beyond the scholarship. Our scholars become members of an elite growing network of students who will continue to develop their professional and project management skills and leadership scope by giving back through field work, peer to peer mentoring and outreach opportunities, while gaining access to openings for further education, paid internships and job placements.
