Volunteering with MarAlliance offers you the chance to contribute to meaningful conservation work while gaining practical experience in marine research, conservation, and community engagement. Depending on the role, volunteers may build skills, strengthen their CV, expand their professional network, and connect with a community committed to protecting oceans and coastal livelihoods.


Volunteer positions are unpaid and designed to be mutually beneficial: volunteers contribute relevant skills and time to support MarAlliance’s mission, while gaining valuable experience and professional exposure in return.

Volunteer opportunities vary throughout the year and may include support for marine research, conservation projects, community outreach, education, communications, fundraising, and administrative activities.

Not always. Some volunteer positions require specific skills or experience, while others are suitable for enthusiastic individuals who are eager to learn and contribute.

Volunteers must generally be at least 18 years old unless participating through a supervised educational or partner programme.

Yes. We welcome expressions of interest from volunteers worldwide. However, eligibility may depend on visa requirements, project location, and available opportunities.

Proficiency in English is required for all volunteer positions. Spanish is required for some roles, particularly those involving community facing work or engagement in Spanish speaking countries; however, language requirements vary depending on the opportunity.

Remote opportunities may be available in areas such as communications, fundraising, data management and analyses, graphic design, video production, research support, and administration.

Our team will review your information and contact you for an online meeting if there is a suitable volunteer opportunity that matches your skills, interests, and availability. We aim to respond within 10 working days as many of our team members spend significant time in the field working on exciting conservation projects.
