Monica Lopez, a woman from Monterrey who found her second home in Puerto Morelos more than a decade ago and has left a significant mark on the world of fishing. An engineer by profession and a fisherwoman by conviction, she has broken traditional paradigms by promoting greater participation of women in sport fishing and encouraging responsible practices such as catch-and-release. She shares her passion for the sea and this activity with her husband Ángel, who is also a fisherman, forming a team that lives and breathes the ocean’s essence.
Monica recently became a certified diver, expanding her knowledge and skills in the underwater world. She currently collaborates with MarAlliance, supporting activities to monitor sharks, rays, and megafauna in the Mexican Caribbean.
