Graphic Designer (Consultant)

Terms of Reference

MarAlliance is seeking a skilled graphic designer to support the development of high-impact visual materials that effectively communicate our mission, data insights, and program outcomes. The designer will collaborate with our communications and programs teams to produce materials consistent with our brand identity and strategic goals.

Location: US or LATAM (remote)

Contract Type: Short-term consultancy, with potential for ongoing work

Start Date: As soon as possible

Objective of the Consultancy

To create compelling, professional, and cohesive graphic assets—including data visualizations, corporate collateral, and donor-facing materials—that enhance our public presence and strengthen stakeholder engagement.

Scope of Work

The consultant will be responsible for:

  • Designing data-driven visuals (charts, infographics, dashboards) based on programmatic and scientific information.
  • Producing corporate communication materials such as annual reports, brochures, presentations, one-pagers, and campaign assets.
  • Supporting the development of digital and print materials for fundraising, partnerships, and social media.
  • Ensuring all materials align with our brand guidelines and visual identity.
  • Providing editable source files and final production-ready formats.
  • Collaborating with internal teams to iterate on drafts and incorporate feedback.

Deliverables

Deliverables may include, but are not limited to:

  • Annual and Impact Reports (digital + print)
  • Infographics summarizing program results
  • Brand guidelines re-fresh
  • Campaign and fundraising graphics (digital + print)
  • Presentation decks
  • Web or social media graphics as needed
  • Visual breakdowns of tag tracking and movement maps
  • Scientific poster layout design for conferences/public outreach
  • Species guides or illustrated educational toolkits
  • Visual assets for interactive elements like the wildlife tracking page or apps

Exact deliverables will be defined per project.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience in data visualization and transformation of complex information into clear visuals.
  • Experience designing annual reports, corporate materials, and donor-facing documents.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating high-quality visual storytelling and brand consistency.
  • Proficiency in design software (Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, etc.).
  • Familiarity with nonprofit, environmental, or scientific communication (preferred but not required).
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work under short timelines.
  • Based in the US or LATAM.

Duration & Level of Effort

This consultancy will be project-based. Additional work may be added based on performance and organizational needs.
