Josué was passionate about the ocean and marine life from a very young age, which led him to study for a degree in Marine Biology. While finishing his degree, he completed an internship at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute, and was also a research assistant at the Agua y Tierra Foundation, monitoring and working on sea turtle conservation in Playa Mata Oscura, Veraguas, where he is still an active member. He has participated in marine turtle conservation projects in Veraguas and, between 2018 and 2021, led the Marine Turtle Protection and Conservation Project at the Los Panamaes Ecological Reserve.
Currently, Josué is a Research Officer with the MarAlliance Panama team, working hand in hand with coastal communities to conserve marine megafauna. In addition to his scientific work, he is an open water swimmer, a discipline that strengthens his connection to the sea and his commitment to its protection.
