Originally from the Guna Yala region on the Caribbean coast, Yarixa was born and raised in Panama. She is currently in her fourth year of a Bachelor’s in Preschool Education at the University of Panama. Since her youth she began to travel to the Guna Yala region, and from there her love for the environment and marine ecosystems began, as well as a love for children and pursuing a career in education. Since 2019 she has volunteered with MarAlliance, conducting educational workshops with elementary, middle, and high schools, as well as fishers, in Guna Yala.
