Adam Whiting

Adam Whiting, grew up in a coastal town in the UK with a passion for problem solving and love of marine megafauna. These interests took him to the University of Exeter, where graduated with an MSc in Marine Vertebrate Ecology and Conservation in 2025. It was during his studies that Adam came to know and identify with the work and vision of MarAlliance whilst monitoring marine megafauna across Panama, and Belize and Cape Verde. His work is primarily focused on using modelling to describe the spatial ecology of marine megafauna, and supporting the analysis and interpretation of data collected in the field. Alongside this, he works closely with coastal communities to democratise science, helping develop citizen science tools that place data collection and discovery in the hands of the people who live and work alongside these species. Adam aims to combine rigorous quantitative science with community-led monitoring, generating information that can be used directly in the management and conservation of sharks, rays and other marine megafauna.
