MarAlliance and the Panama Aquatic Resources Authority Strengthen alliance to advance sustainable fishing and marine conservation

The ocean connects ecosystems, economies, and cultures. In Panama, where thousands of families depend directly on the sea, the sustainability of marine resources is not only an environmental goal but also a social and economic priority.

On June 5, MarAlliance and the Panama Aquatic Resources Authority (ARAP) took an important step toward strengthening sustainable fisheries management by signing an inter-institutional cooperation agreement that reaffirms their shared commitment to science-based marine conservation.

The agreement was led by Dr. Rachel Graham, Founder and Executive Director of MarAlliance, with the participation of Víctor Tam, Secretary General of ARAP, representing General Administrator Eduardo Carrasquilla. This collaboration represents a shared commitment to securing a sustainable future for the ocean.

The agreement between MarAlliance and ARAP is more than just an institutional partnership: it represents a commitment to a development model where science drives action, conservation creates opportunities, and communities spearhead change.

Through this collaboration, the goal is not only to protect marine biodiversity but also to ensure sustainable livelihoods for present and future generations.

Because protecting the ocean is not an individual task. It is a collective effort that begins with strong partnerships and a shared vision.
